Job Title: Teacher of Economics
Location: Malton, North Yorkshire
Contract: Full Time, Term Time Only
Start Date: September 2026 or sooner
Salary: £168.80 – £261.79 per day

GSL Education are currently hiring a dedicated and enthusiastic Teacher of Economics to work in secondary schools across Malton and the surrounding areas.
As a Teacher of Economics, you will deliver engaging and thought-provoking lessons that develop students’ understanding of economic theory, current affairs, and real-world application. You will play a key role in helping learners build analytical skills, interpret data, and form balanced arguments on key economic issues.
Main Responsibilities as a Teacher of Economics:
- Plan and deliver engaging Economics lessons in line with the national curriculum and exam specifications.
- Teach a range of topics including microeconomics, macroeconomics, markets, supply and demand, and global economics.
- Develop students’ analytical, evaluative, and numerical skills.
- Encourage critical thinking through discussion of real-world economic issues and case studies.
- Support students in developing exam techniques and achieving strong academic outcomes.
- Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of learners with varying abilities, including those requiring additional support.
- Assess, monitor, and record student progress, providing clear and constructive feedback.
- Maintain high expectations for behaviour, engagement, and academic achievement.
- Contribute to departmental resources and curriculum development where required.
- Create a positive, structured, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes learning and curiosity.
Teacher of Economics Minimum Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
- Experience teaching Economics or Business-related subjects within a secondary school setting.
- Strong subject knowledge of economic principles and current global economic trends.
- Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills.
- Ability to explain complex concepts in a clear and engaging way.
- Strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
