Youth Worker

Location: Middlesbrough
Salary: £90–£120 per day (dependent on experience)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm
Start Date: September 2026
Contract Type: Full-Time

Are you passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of young people? A supportive and inclusive school in Middlesbrough is seeking a dedicated Youth Worker to join their team. This Youth Worker role is ideal for someone who can build positive relationships, inspire confidence and help pupils achieve both academically and personally.

The successful Youth Worker will provide tailored support to pupils, including 1:1 interventions and small group work. As a Youth Worker, you will play a key role in promoting positive behaviour, engagement and educational progress while helping pupils develop the skills and confidence needed to succeed.

Key Responsibilities of the Youth Worker:

  • Providing 1:1 support and mentoring to pupils.
  • Supporting pupils with their social, emotional and educational development.
  • Promoting positive behaviour and strong engagement in learning.
  • Building positive and professional relationships with pupils, staff and families.
  • Supporting pupils to overcome barriers to learning and achievement.
  • Working alongside teaching and pastoral teams to implement support strategies.
  • Encouraging confidence, resilience, independence and self-esteem.
  • Helping to create a safe, supportive and inclusive school environment.

The Ideal Youth Worker Will:

  • Have previous experience working with children or young people.
  • Be passionate about supporting young people to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Have strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Be patient, resilient and adaptable in approach.
  • Have experience supporting pupils with behavioural, social or emotional needs.
  • Hold an enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply).
  • Have a fully checkable work history.
