Job Title: Teacher of Maths
Location: York, North Yorkshire
Contract: Part-Time, Full Time, Term Time Only
Start Date: September 2026 or sooner
Salary: £32,916 – £51,048 per annum
Are you an enthusiastic and motivated Teacher of Maths looking to inspire young people to develop confidence, curiosity, and strong problem-solving skills?
GSL Education are hiring a skilled Teacher of Maths to undertake short-term cover and long-term placements within local schools in York and the surrounding areas. This is a fantastic opportunity to work flexibly in local schools while helping students build resilience, numerical fluency, and a deeper understanding of mathematical concepts.
As a Teacher of Maths, you will deliver engaging and well-structured lessons that challenge and support learners of all abilities, encouraging logical thinking and a positive attitude towards Mathematics.
Teacher of Maths Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver high-quality Mathematics lessons across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5.
- Develop students’ confidence in numeracy, problem-solving, and mathematical reasoning
- Support learners of varying abilities to achieve their academic potential
- Use assessment effectively to track progress and inform teaching strategies
- Create a structured, positive, and inclusive classroom environment
- Promote high expectations and a growth mindset towards Mathematics
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to support curriculum delivery and student outcomes
- Contribute to wider school life where appropriate, including enrichment activities
Teacher of Maths Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or equivalent teaching qualification
- Specialism in Mathematics or a related discipline
- Experience teaching Mathematics at secondary school level
- Strong classroom management and behaviour management skills
- A passion for Mathematics education and student achievement
- Excellent communication, planning, and organisational skills
- An up-to-date CV covering the last ten years (with any gaps explained)
- An enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or willingness to apply
