Salary: £32,916 – £51,048 per annum

Are you an enthusiastic and motivated Teacher of Religious Education looking to inspire young people to explore different beliefs, values, and worldviews?

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated Teacher of Religious Education (RE) to undertake short-term cover and long-term placements within local schools in York and the surrounding areas. This is an exciting opportunity to work flexibly in local schools while helping students develop critical thinking, respect for diversity, and an understanding of religious and ethical issues.

As a Teacher of RE, you will deliver engaging and inclusive lessons that encourage students to explore a range of religious traditions, philosophical concepts, and moral questions, fostering curiosity and informed discussion.

Teacher of RE Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver high-quality Religious Education lessons across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5.
  • Encourage students to explore different faiths, beliefs, and ethical perspectives
  • Develop students’ critical thinking, discussion, and analytical skills
  • Support students of varying abilities to achieve their full potential
  • Assess, monitor, and record student progress effectively
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and respectful learning environment
  • Promote understanding, tolerance, and respect for different cultures and beliefs
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to support student achievement and wellbeing

Teacher of RE Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or equivalent teaching qualification
  • Specialism in Religious Education, Theology, Philosophy, or a related subject
  • Experience teaching RE at secondary school level
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
  • A passion for Religious Education and student development
  • Excellent communication and organisational abilities
  • An up-to-date CV covering the last ten years (with any gaps explained)
  • An enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or willingness to apply
