Support Positive Outcomes as an SEMH Teaching Assistant in Northumberland

Are you passionate about supporting pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs?

GSL Education are seeking a compassionate and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in Northumberland. This rewarding role offers a daily rate of £90–£115, depending on experience, and is ideal for someone dedicated to helping students overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential in a nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities of an SEMH Teaching Assistant:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs.
  • Assist teachers in delivering tailored and engaging learning activities.
  • Support pupils in regulating their emotions and behaviour effectively.
  • Promote positive behaviour, resilience, and self-confidence.
  • Help create a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment.
  • Work closely with teaching staff and SENCO to implement support strategies.

Job Requirements for an SEMH Teaching Assistant:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH or behavioural needs.
  • A calm, patient, and adaptable approach to supporting learning.
  • Strong communication and behaviour management skills.
  • Ability to build trusting and positive relationships with pupils.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting student wellbeing.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
