Salary: £32,916 – £51,048 per annum

GSL Education are currently recruiting for a passionate and skilled Teacher of Music to undertake short-term cover and long-term placements within local schools in Scarborough and the surrounding areas.

This is a fantastic opportunity to engage learners through practical and theoretical music education, encouraging performance, composition, and appreciation across a wide range of musical styles, while helping students develop creativity, discipline, and confidence.

About the Role:

As a Teacher of Music, you will deliver engaging and well-structured lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, covering areas such as performance, composition, music theory, and listening skills. You will inspire learners to explore their musical talents, develop their understanding of different genres, and build confidence in both individual and group performance settings.

Key Responsibilities of the Teacher of Music:

  • Plan and deliver high-quality Music lessons that engage, inspire, and challenge learners
  • Teach a range of topics including performance, composition, and music theory across KS3 and KS4
  • Encourage creativity, self-expression, and participation in practical music activities
  • Support students in developing instrumental and vocal skills where appropriate
  • Use a variety of assessment methods to track progress and provide constructive feedback
  • Contribute to extracurricular activities such as school concerts, choirs, or music clubs
  • Maintain a positive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to support curriculum development and learner achievement

As the Ideal Teacher of Music, You Should Have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or equivalent teaching qualification
  • Experience teaching Music in a school or educational setting
  • Strong subject knowledge across performance, composition, and music theory
  • Ability to inspire and motivate learners of varying abilities
  • Excellent classroom management and organisational skills
  • A passion for music education and supporting student development
  • A proactive, adaptable, and collaborative approach to teaching

To Work with GSL Education, You Must:

  • Have the right to work in the UK
  • Provide an up-to-date CV with relevant reference information covering the last 2 years
  • Have recent experience working within an educational setting
  • Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one
