Salary: £168.80 – £261.79 per day

As an English Teacher, you will deliver engaging and well-structured lessons that support students in developing their reading, writing, speaking, and analytical skills. You will encourage a genuine appreciation of literature while helping learners build the confidence needed to succeed both academically and beyond the classroom.

Main Responsibilities as an English Teacher:

  • Plan and deliver high-quality English lessons in line with the national curriculum.
  • Teach a range of texts, genres, and writing styles to develop student understanding and enjoyment of English.
  • Support students in improving their reading comprehension, written communication, and critical thinking skills.
  • Encourage confident spoken English through discussion, presentations, and group work.
  • Adapt teaching to meet the needs of learners with varying abilities, including those with additional educational needs.
  • Assess, monitor, and record student progress, providing constructive feedback to support improvement.
  • Maintain high standards of behaviour, engagement, and achievement in the classroom.
  • Contribute to departmental resources and wider school literacy initiatives where required.
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment that encourages academic success.

English Teacher Minimum Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching English within a secondary school setting.
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
  • Ability to engage and motivate students of all abilities.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
