Job Title: English Teacher
Location: Fulford, North Yorkshire
Contract: Part Time, Full Time, Term Time Only
Start Date: September 2026 or sooner
Salary: £32,916 – £51,048 per annum
Are you an enthusiastic and motivated English Teacher looking to inspire young people through literature, language, and creative expression?
GSL Education are seeking a dedicated English Teacher to undertake short-term cover and long-term placements within local schools in Fulford and the surrounding areas. This is an exciting opportunity to work flexibly in local schools while helping students develop strong literacy skills, confidence in communication, and a lifelong appreciation of English language and literature.
As a Teacher of English, you will deliver engaging and inclusive lessons that encourage students to explore a wide range of texts, develop analytical skills, and express themselves effectively in both written and spoken English.
English Teacher Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver high-quality English lessons across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5.
- Develop students’ reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills
- Inspire a love of literature, language, and creative writing
- Support students of varying abilities to achieve their full potential
- Assess, monitor, and record student progress effectively
- Create a positive, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment
- Contribute to curriculum development and departmental planning
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to support student achievement and wellbeing
Requirements of English Teacher:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or equivalent teaching qualification
- Specialism in English or a related subject
- Experience teaching English at secondary school level
- Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
- A passion for language, literature, and student development
- Excellent communication and organisational abilities
- An up-to-date CV covering the last ten years (with any gaps explained)
- An enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or willingness to apply
