Teacher of Music
Location: Scarborough and surrounding areas, North Yorkshire
Contract: Part-Time, Temporary, Supply
Start Date: September 2026 or sooner
Salary: £168.80 – £261.79 per day

GSL Education is currently seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Teachers of Music to work in secondary schools across Scarborough and the surrounding areas. Whether you are looking for short-term supply, long-term placements, or part-time opportunities, we can support you in finding a role that aligns with your experience and career goals.
As a Teacher of Music, you will deliver engaging and inclusive lessons that encourage students to explore different genres, develop their musical skills, and build confidence through performance and composition. You will have the opportunity to work across a range of school settings, supporting learners of varying abilities and backgrounds.
Core Responsibilities as a Teacher of Music:
- Plan and deliver engaging Music lessons in line with the national curriculum.
- Teach a range of musical skills including performance, composition, listening, and appraisal.
- Inspire creativity and self-expression through practical and theoretical music activities.
- Support students in developing confidence in solo and group performance.
- Adapt lessons to meet the needs of learners with varying abilities, including those with additional educational needs.
- Assess, monitor, and record student progress and attainment.
- Maintain high expectations for behaviour, engagement, and achievement in the classroom.
- Contribute to school performances, concerts, extracurricular music clubs, and enrichment opportunities where required.
- Create a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment that encourages student participation and enjoyment.
Teacher of Music Minimum Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
- Experience teaching Music within a secondary school setting.
- Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
- Ability to inspire and engage students across a range of musical abilities and interests.
- Good knowledge of music theory, performance, and curriculum requirements.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
