Job Title: Teacher of Music
Location: Scarborough, North Yorkshire
Contract: Part Time, Full Time, Term Time Only
Start Date: September 2026 or sooner
Salary: £32,916 – £51,048 per annum
Are you an enthusiastic and creative Teacher of Music looking to inspire young people through performance, composition, and a love of music?
GSL Education are seeking a dedicated Teacher of Music to undertake short-term cover and long-term placements within local schools in Scarborough and the surrounding areas. This is an exciting opportunity to work flexibly in local schools while encouraging students to develop their musical knowledge, skills, and confidence.
As a Teacher of Music, you will deliver engaging and inclusive lessons that inspire students to explore a range of musical styles, develop their performance abilities, and express their creativity through music.
Teacher of Music Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver high-quality Music lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4
- Encourage students to develop their performance, composition, and listening skills
- Support students of varying abilities to achieve their musical potential
- Assess, monitor, and record student progress effectively
- Promote participation in music-related extracurricular activities, performances, and enrichment opportunities
- Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to support student achievement and wellbeing
- Foster creativity, confidence, and a lifelong appreciation of music
Teacher of Music Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or equivalent teaching qualification
- Specialism in Music or a related subject
- Experience teaching Music at secondary school level
- Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
- A passion for music education and student development
- Excellent communication and organisational abilities
- An up-to-date CV covering the last ten years (with any gaps explained)
- An enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or willingness to apply
