Job Title: Sports Coach / Learning Support
Location: Sheffield S5
Salary: £460 – £650 per week
Contract Type: Full-time / Part-time, Long-term / Day-to-day
Start Date: Immediately

GSL Education is seeking motivated and adaptable individuals with a sports, coaching or fitness background to work in school-based support roles across Sheffield S5. These positions are not PE teaching roles, but classroom-based support opportunities where you will assist with learning, behaviour and supervision throughout the school day.

This is an excellent route into education for those looking to transition from sport or fitness into school environments, using transferable skills such as structure, communication, motivation and behaviour management to support young people effectively.

About the Role:
This is a school-based support role where your sports background is used as a foundation for working with young people in the classroom. You will support teachers with learning activities, behaviour management and cover supervision, helping pupils stay engaged, focused and on task. The role may also involve supporting primary or secondary classrooms, SEN needs, or small group interventions depending on school requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support teachers with classroom learning and supervision

  • Provide behaviour support and help maintain positive learning environments

  • Act as cover supervisor where required across lessons

  • Use coaching-style skills to encourage engagement and structure

  • Support pupils on a 1:1 or small group basis when needed

  • Contribute to a safe, consistent and productive classroom setting

Requirements:

  • Background in sports, coaching, fitness or youth work

  • Strong ability to engage and manage groups of young people

  • Confident communication and behaviour management skills

  • Adaptable, reliable and professional approach

  • Genuine interest in working within education settings
