Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Sheffield
Salary: £460 – £600 per week
Contract Type: Full-time, long-term / Day-to-day
Start Date: Immediately

About the Role:
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will provide targeted support to students who may experience social, emotional or mental health challenges. Working closely with teachers and pastoral staff, you will help pupils engage with learning, develop positive coping strategies and build confidence both inside and outside the classroom. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people who require additional support.

Responsibilities:

  • Support students with SEMH needs on a one-to-one basis and in small groups

  • Encourage positive behaviour and emotional regulation

  • Assist teachers in delivering engaging and accessible lessons

  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students

  • Help create a safe, structured and supportive learning environment

  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching and pastoral staff

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable

  • Understanding of SEMH needs and associated challenges

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills

  • A patient, resilient and proactive approach

  • A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable students
