Contract Type: Full-time / Part-time, Long-term / Day-to-day
Start Date: Immediately
Are you looking to bring your sports, coaching, or fitness experience into a rewarding school-based role? GSL Education is seeking enthusiastic and motivated individuals to work in secondary schools across Sheffield, supporting students both in and out of the classroom.
This is not a sports delivery role. Instead, you will use the transferable skills gained through coaching, such as communication, behaviour management, motivation and teamwork, to support young people in an educational setting.
About the School:
The schools we work with are inclusive and supportive environments that place student wellbeing and achievement at the heart of everything they do. Staff work collaboratively to create positive learning experiences, helping students develop confidence, resilience and a strong sense of belonging within the school community.
About the Role:
As a Sports Coach / Learning Support professional, your main focus will be supporting students throughout the school day. Duties may include classroom support, behaviour support, cover supervision, small group interventions and SEN support. You will help students remain engaged with their learning, encourage positive behaviour and contribute to a structured and supportive learning environment. A trauma informed approach is highly valued within these settings.
Responsibilities:
-
Provide classroom support across a range of subjects
-
Assist students with their learning on a one-to-one and small group basis
-
Support behaviour management strategies and student engagement
-
Supervise lessons in the absence of teaching staff where required
-
Work with students with additional learning or SEN needs
-
Help maintain a safe, positive and structured school environment
Requirements:
-
Background in sports coaching, fitness, youth work, or similar roles
-
Confidence working with young people in a structured setting
-
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
-
A proactive, reliable and adaptable approach
-
Genuine interest in supporting students within education
This is an excellent opportunity to transition into education and gain valuable school-based experience while making a meaningful difference to students' learning, behaviour and development.
