A friendly and well respected primary school in Harlow is seeking a dedicated Classroom Support Assistant to join their team from September on a full-time, long-term basis. This rewarding role involves providing support to a pupil with additional SEN needs, helping them to thrive both academically and socially within the classroom environment.

About the Role

As a Classroom Support Assistant, you will work closely with a child requiring additional support, helping them to access learning, build confidence, and engage positively in school life. You will be an important part of the classroom team, working alongside the class teacher and SENCO to provide consistent and tailored support throughout the school day.

This role would suit someone who is nurturing, proactive, and passionate about supporting children with additional needs.


Key Responsibilities

  • Providing dedicated support to a pupil with SEN within the classroom
  • Helping the child engage with lessons and learning activities
  • Encouraging independence, confidence, and positive social interactions
  • Supporting emotional wellbeing and promoting positive behaviour
  • Assisting with classroom routines, transitions, and structured activities
  • Working collaboratively with the class teacher and SEN team
  • Helping to create a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience working with children, ideally within a school or childcare setting
  • An understanding of additional learning needs and SEN
  • A calm, patient, and positive approach
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • A willingness to learn and adapt to the needs of the pupil
  • A genuine passion for helping children succeed
