Early Years Leader / Pre-School Lead (Primary School Setting) Full-Time | September Start

A welcoming and well regarded primary school in Harlow is seeking a dedicated Pre-School Leader to join their Early Years team from September on a full-time, long-term basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to lead a vibrant pre-school provision within a supportive school environment that values creativity, care, and high-quality early education.

About the Role

As Pre-School Leader, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the pre-school setting, ensuring a safe, stimulating, and nurturing environment where children can learn and thrive through play-based experiences.

You will lead by example, supporting and guiding staff while delivering high-quality Early Years practice that supports children’s development across all areas of learning.

This role is ideal for someone who is confident in leadership, passionate about Early Years education, and committed to giving children the best possible start.


Key Responsibilities

  • Leading the daily running of the pre-school provision
  • Planning and delivering engaging, play-based learning activities
  • Supporting children’s social, emotional, and educational development
  • Ensuring a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment at all times
  • Leading and supporting a small team of Early Years staff
  • Observing, assessing, and tracking children’s progress
  • Working closely with the EYFS lead, SENCO, and senior leadership team
  • Building strong relationships with parents and carers
  • Ensuring all safeguarding and welfare requirements are met

The Ideal Candidate

  • Minimum Level 3 qualification in Early Years / Childcare (essential)
  • Experience working within Early Years settings, ideally in a leadership or senior role
  • Strong knowledge of the EYFS framework
  • Confident, calm, and nurturing leadership style
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • A genuine passion for Early Years education and child development
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
