A friendly and inclusive primary school in Brentwood is looking to appoint a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a pupil with autism from September. This is a full-time role (5 days per week), and the school is actively interviewing now, so early applications are strongly encouraged.

About the Role
You will be working closely with one pupil, providing consistent and tailored support throughout the school day. Your role will focus on helping the child access learning, build confidence, and develop key communication and social skills in a structured and nurturing environment.
You will be supported by the class teacher and SENCO, with clear guidance and ongoing support to help you succeed in the role.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing dedicated 1:1 support for a child with autism
- Supporting access to learning activities in and out of the classroom
- Helping the pupil develop communication, social, and emotional skills
- Encouraging positive behaviour, confidence, and independence
- Supporting daily routines, transitions, and structured activities
- Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO
- Helping to create a safe, calm, and positive learning environment
What We’re Looking For
- Experience supporting children, ideally with SEN or autism
- A patient, calm, and nurturing approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to build a trusting relationship with a child
- A proactive and adaptable attitude
- A genuine passion for supporting children to thrive
