Position: Teaching Assistant
Location: Basildon
Salary Scale: £92.59-£120 per day
Contract Type: Full-time

GSL are seeking enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to support students in a secondary school setting across Key Stages 3 and 4. This role involves supporting students within the classroom, helping them to stay engaged with learning, build confidence, and achieve their full academic and personal potential.

You will work alongside experienced teachers and support staff to help students access the curriculum, develop positive learning behaviours, and thrive within a supportive and inclusive school environment.

You will have opportunities for professional development and will support students in a range of settings, including:
In-class support across a variety of subjects
Small group interventions and targeted learning support
Exam preparation and coursework support

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students’ academic progress and personal development. You will work closely with teachers, pastoral staff, and other professionals to create a positive, engaging, and supportive learning environment where all students can succeed.

Responsibilities:
• Provide classroom support to students across Key Stages 3 and 4
• Support teachers with lesson delivery and classroom management
• Work with students individually and in small groups to reinforce learning
• Promote positive behaviour, engagement, and participation
• Assist students with organisation, confidence, and learning skills
• Support the preparation of classroom resources and activities
• Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and supportive school environment
• Support students during lessons and wider school activities where required

Qualifications and Skills:
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
• Patience, adaptability, and resilience
• A genuine interest in education and supporting young people
• Proactive approach and willingness to work as part of a team
• Previous experience working with young people is desirable but not essential
