Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA)
Location: Northumberland
Salary: £90 – £115 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long Term, Full-time / Part-time

Are you an enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant looking to make a meaningful impact in education?

GSL Education are currently seeking caring and motivated SEN Teaching Assistants to work in schools across Northumberland.

This rewarding opportunity involves supporting students with Special Educational Needs both inside and outside the classroom. The successful candidate will help students engage with lessons, build confidence, and develop important social and emotional skills while working closely with teachers and support staff.

Responsibilities of an SEN TA:

  • Provide individual and small group support for students with SEN needs
  • Assist teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons
  • Support students according to the curriculum and syllabus
  • Encourage positive behaviour and active classroom participation
  • Help students develop communication, social, and emotional skills
  • Adapt classroom activities and resources to meet individual learning needs
  • Monitor and report on student progress when required
  • Build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents

Requirements of an SEN TA:

  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN is desirable
  • CACHE Level 2 or 3, NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare or Teaching Assistance is advantageous
  • A degree in Psychology, Education, or a related field is beneficial
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patient, supportive, and adaptable attitude
  • Passion for supporting students with additional learning needs
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
