Job Title: Behaviour Support Worker
Location: Newcastle
Salary: £90 – £115 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long Term, Full-time / Part-time

GSL Education are currently seeking motivated and compassionate Behaviour Support Workers to work in schools across Newcastle.

This rewarding role involves supporting students who may display challenging behaviour or require additional emotional and behavioural support within the classroom. The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff to promote positive behaviour, encourage engagement with learning, and help students develop confidence and social skills.

Responsibilities of a Behaviour Support Worker:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group behavioural support for students
  • Support students according to the curriculum and syllabus
  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing within the classroom
  • Assist students in managing emotions and developing social skills
  • Support teachers in maintaining a calm and productive learning environment
  • Encourage student engagement and participation in lessons
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with students and staff
  • Follow safeguarding and behaviour management policies at all times

Requirements of a Behaviour Support Worker:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with behavioural needs is desirable
  • Strong communication and behaviour management skills
  • Patient, resilient, and supportive approach
  • Ability to remain calm in challenging situations
  • Degree in Psychology, Education, or a related field is advantageous
  • Passion for supporting students’ personal and academic development
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
