Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA)
Location: Newcastle
Salary: £90 – £115 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long Term, Full-time / Part-time

GSL Education are currently recruiting enthusiastic and caring SEN Teaching Assistants to work in schools across Newcastle.
This rewarding role involves supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) within the classroom, helping them access learning and develop confidence both academically and socially. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and support staff to create a positive, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment for students.
Responsibilities of an SEN TA:
- Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with SEN needs
- Support students according to the curriculum and syllabus
- Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons
- Help students develop social, emotional, and communication skills
- Encourage positive behaviour and engagement within the classroom
- Adapt learning materials and activities to meet individual student needs
- Monitor and record student progress where required
- Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and support staff
Requirements of an SEN TA:
- Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN is desirable
- CACHE Level 2 or 3, NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare or Teaching Assistance is desirable
- Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Education, or a relevant field is advantageous
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Patient, supportive, and adaptable approach
- Passion for supporting students with additional learning needs
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
