Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Sheffield
Salary: £460 – £600 per week
Contract Type: Full-time, long-term / Day-to-day

About the Role:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and the wider support team to assist pupils with special educational needs both inside and outside the classroom. You may support students with autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, or social, emotional and mental health needs, helping them remain engaged, confident, and supported throughout the school day.

Responsibilities:

  • Support students with SEN on a one-to-one basis and in small groups

  • Assist the class teacher with adapting learning activities to meet individual needs

  • Encourage positive behaviour and emotional regulation

  • Build supportive relationships with pupils to promote confidence and independence

  • Help maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive classroom environment

  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff

Requirements:

  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN is desirable

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • A calm, patient, and adaptable approach

  • Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff

  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs

  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
