Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant (SEMH TA)
Location: Sheffield
Salary: £460 – £600 per week (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long-term | Part-time / Full-time
GSL Education are currently seeking a compassionate and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant (TA) to join a supportive and inclusive school in the Sheffield area. This rewarding role involves working closely with students who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them overcome barriers and succeed in their education.
Key Responsibilities of the SEMH Teaching Assistant:
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support for students with SEMH needs.
- Implement behaviour management strategies and support emotional regulation.
- Build strong, positive relationships with pupils as a consistent and trusted role model.
- Support personalised learning plans and behaviour interventions.
- Help create a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
Requirements for the SEMH Teaching Assistant Role:
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH or challenging behaviour.
- A calm, patient, and resilient approach.
- Strong understanding of behaviour support and safeguarding practices.
- Relevant qualifications (e.g., TA Level 2/3, childcare, or Psychology degree) are desirable.
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
