Job Title: SEN Teacher

Salary: £32,916 – £51,048 per annum*

Are you a dedicated SEN Teacher with a passion for supporting secondary-aged students with additional learning needs?

GSL Education are currently seeking a committed and compassionate SEN Teacher to support students at a specialist educational setting in Scarborough. This is a rewarding long-term opportunity within a structured and supportive environment focused on helping students achieve both academically and personally.

As an SEN Teacher, you will work with secondary-aged pupils with a range of additional needs, delivering engaging and differentiated lessons that support individual learning, emotional development, and positive engagement within education.

About the School:

This specialist educational setting provides a structured and nurturing environment for children aged 2 to 16 years old with a range of additional learning, social, emotional, and behavioural needs.

Main Responsibilities as an SEN Teacher:

  • Plan and deliver differentiated lessons tailored to individual student needs.
  • Support students with SEN to access learning in a positive and structured environment.
  • Promote positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing, and engagement in lessons.
  • Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback.
  • Work closely with support staff, pastoral teams, and parents/carers to support student development.
  • Contribute to maintaining a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.

Requirements of SEN Teacher:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Experience working with students with SEN, ideally within a secondary or specialist school setting.
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
  • A patient, adaptable, and nurturing approach to teaching.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for a new one).
