Salary: £32,916 – £51,048 per annum*

GSL Education are currently recruiting for a passionate and skilled Design Technology Teacher to work in York.

This is an exciting opportunity to engage learners in hands-on experiences, encouraging problem-solving, creativity, and technical understanding across a range of design disciplines, while helping them develop valuable skills for the future.

About the Role:
As a Design Technology Teacher, you will deliver engaging and practical lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, covering areas such as product design, resistant materials, graphics, or engineering. You will inspire learners to think critically and creatively, while ensuring a safe and structured workshop environment.

Key Responsibilities of the Design Technology Teacher:

  • Plan and deliver high-quality DT lessons that engage and challenge learners
  • Teach a range of design and technology topics across KS3 and KS4
  • Encourage creativity, problem-solving, and independent project work
  • Ensure safe use of tools, equipment, and workshop environments
  • Assess and track learner progress, providing constructive feedback
  • Contribute to curriculum development and enrichment activities
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to support learner achievement

As the Ideal Design Technology Teacher, You Should Have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching Design Technology in a school setting
  • Strong subject knowledge across DT disciplines
  • Ability to inspire and motivate learners of varying abilities
  • Excellent classroom management and organisational skills
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe and engaging learning environment
  • A proactive and collaborative approach to teaching

To Work with GSL Education, You Must:

  • Have the right to work in the UK
  • Provide an up-to-date CV with relevant reference information covering the last 2 years
  • Have recent experience teaching in an educational setting
  • Have an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one
