Job Title: Attendance Officer
Location: Sheffield
Salary: £460 – £600 per week (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long Term, Full-time / Part-time

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated and reliable Attendance Officer to work in schools in Sheffield.
As an Attendance Officer, you will play a vital role in promoting high levels of attendance and punctuality, helping to remove barriers to learning, and ensuring students are fully engaged in their education. This rewarding role is ideal for someone who enjoys working closely with students, staff, and families to make a meaningful impact on attendance and overall school performance.
Your Responsibilities as an Attendance Officer:
- Monitor and record student attendance accurately daily
- Follow up on unexplained absences and lateness in line with school policies
- Communicate with parents/carers regarding attendance concerns
- Work closely with school staff to identify and address attendance issues
- Support the implementation of attendance improvement strategies
- Maintain accurate records and prepare attendance reports
- Liaise with external agencies when necessary to support student attendance
- Promote a positive culture of attendance and punctuality within the school
To be an Attendance Officer, you should have:
- Experience working in an administrative, school, or support setting
- Understanding of attendance procedures and safeguarding responsibilities
- Strong organisational and time-management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality
- A proactive and solution-focused approach
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
