Early Years Practitioner
Location: Scarborough, North Yorkshire
Contract: Full Time, Term Time Only
Start Date: September 2026 or sooner
Salary: £14.15 – £17.69 per hour

GSL Education are currently recruiting for a caring and enthusiastic Early Years Practitioner to join a supportive specialist educational setting in Scarborough. This is a full-time, term-time only position starting in September 2026, although an earlier start may be available for the right candidate.

This rewarding role involves supporting young children within an Early Years environment, helping to promote communication, social interaction, emotional development, and early learning skills through a nurturing and child-centred approach.

The setting supports children with a range of additional needs including ASC, communication and interaction needs, sensory needs, SEMH, and developmental delays.

About The Role as an Early Years Practitioner:

  • Support children within Early Years provision through structured and play-based learning activities.
  • Encourage communication, interaction, emotional regulation, and independence skills.
  • Work closely with teaching staff and therapists to support individual learning and development targets.
  • Adapt activities and resources to meet the needs of individual children.
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with children, families, and staff.
  • Support personal care and daily routines where required.
  • Help maintain a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Observe and record progress, engagement, and developmental milestones.

The Ideal Early Years Practitioner Will Have:

  • Experience working within Early Years, childcare, education, or SEN settings.
  • A patient, caring, and nurturing approach.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • An understanding of child development and early learning.
  • The ability to remain calm, adaptable, and positive in a busy environment.
  • Experience supporting children with additional needs is desirable but not essential.
