SEN Teaching Assistant – Resource Base | Tameside | September Start

Rate: £95 – £115 per day (dependent on experience)

A fantastic opportunity has become available for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a well-established Resource Base within a mainstream primary school in Tameside from September.

This is a highly supportive setting designed for pupils with additional needs who benefit from a more structured and specialist environment while remaining part of the wider school community.

The school is looking for someone with genuine SEN experience who can confidently support pupils with a range of needs including:

  • Autism (ASC)
  • Speech & Language needs
  • SEMH
  • Communication and sensory needs

About the Role – SEN Teaching Assistant (Resource Base)

As part of the Resource Base team, you will:

  • Support pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis
  • Help pupils regulate emotions and engage with learning
  • Use visual aids, communication strategies, and sensory approaches
  • Support transitions between the provision and mainstream classrooms
  • Work closely with the SENCO, teachers, and external professionals
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils who require consistency and patience

The successful candidate will need to be calm, proactive, and confident working in a specialist SEN environment.

  • Previous experience working within SEN settings or resource bases
  • Strong understanding of Autism and additional learning needs
  • Excellent behaviour management and emotional regulation support
  • Patient, resilient, and nurturing approach
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a wider SEN team
