Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Sheffield
Salary: £460 – £600 per week
Contract Type: Full-time, long-term / Day-to-day
Start Date: Immediately

A supportive and inclusive school in Sheffield is seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to work closely with students who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs.

About the Role:
As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will support students across KS3 and KS4 who require help with emotional regulation, engagement and access to learning. You will work closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams to provide consistent support both in and out of the classroom, helping pupils develop trust, confidence and positive learning behaviours.

Responsibilities:

  • Support students with SEMH needs across secondary classrooms (KS3 and KS4)

  • Provide one-to-one and small group interventions focused on emotional regulation and engagement

  • Assist with managing behaviour in line with school policies and strategies

  • Build positive, trusting relationships with students to support learning

  • Help create a structured, calm and safe learning environment

  • Support teaching staff in delivering tailored learning experiences

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, SEN or behavioural needs is desirable

  • Strong understanding of behaviour support and emotional regulation strategies

  • Calm, patient and resilient approach in challenging situations

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a school and pastoral team

  • Genuine commitment to supporting vulnerable young people in education
