SEMH Teaching Assistant – Behaviour Support

Location: Selby
Salary: £88 – £110 per day
Contract: Full Time
Start Date: Immediate or September 2026

GSL Education are recruiting a resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to support pupils within a specialist provision in Selby.

About the School

This specialist setting supports pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs through personalised support, structured routines and strong pastoral care. Staff focus on helping pupils regulate emotions and re-engage with learning.

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with SEMH needs on a 1:1 basis
  • Assist with behaviour management strategies
  • Support emotional regulation and engagement
  • Work closely with teaching and pastoral staff
  • Promote positive behaviour and resilience

Requirements

  • Experience supporting SEMH or behavioural needs preferred
  • Strong resilience and calm approach
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils
  • Good communication skills
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply
