Job Title: SEMH Teacher
Location: Sheffield
Salary: Up to £220 per day (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long-term | Part-time / Full-time
GSL Education are delighted to be supporting a nurturing and forward-thinking school in Sheffield to recruit a committed and skilled SEMH Teacher. This role is ideal for an educator with compassion, resilience, and a genuine passion for supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs — including those displaying challenging behaviour.
Key Responsibilities of the SEMH Teacher:
- Deliver engaging and differentiated lessons tailored to the individual needs of pupils with SEMH.
- Create a safe, supportive, and trauma-informed classroom environment.
- Implement effective behaviour support and emotional regulation strategies.
- Build positive and trusting relationships that promote confidence and self-esteem.
- Work collaboratively with support staff, SENCOs, therapists, and external agencies.
- Track and report on student progress, adapting teaching strategies where needed.
Requirements for the SEMH Teacher Role:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a relevant teaching qualification.
- Previous experience working with SEMH, challenging behaviour, or SEND.
- Strong classroom management skills and the ability to de-escalate situations effectively.
- Understanding of trauma-informed practice, safeguarding, and behaviour support strategies.
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
