Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant (SEMH TA)

Salary: £460 – £600 per week (depending on experience)

GSL Education are seeking a resilient and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant (TA) to support children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in a welcoming and inclusive school in the Rotherham area.

Your Role as an SEMH Teaching Assistant (SEMH TA) Will Include:

  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support tailored to pupils with SEMH needs.
  • Supporting behaviour management strategies and helping pupils regulate emotions.
  • Assisting with personalised learning plans and behaviour intervention strategies.
  • Helping create a safe, structured, and engaging learning environment.
  • Building strong, consistent relationships that promote trust, confidence, and resilience.

What We’re Looking for in an SEMH Teaching Assistant (SEMH TA):

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, challenging behaviour, or similar needs.
  • A calm, patient, and emotionally resilient approach.
  • Strong understanding of behaviour support strategies and safeguarding practices (preferred).
  • Ability to build positive relationships and act as a role model.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 TA, Psychology, or childcare) are beneficial but not essential.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
