Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant (SEMH TA)

Salary: £460 – £600 per week (depending on experience)

GSL Education are seeking a resilient and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant (TA) to support children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in a welcoming and inclusive school in the Rotherham area.
This rewarding role is perfect for someone passionate about building positive relationships and supporting pupils who need additional emotional and behavioural guidance to succeed.
Your Role as an SEMH Teaching Assistant (SEMH TA) Will Include:
- Providing 1:1 and small-group support tailored to pupils with SEMH needs.
- Supporting behaviour management strategies and helping pupils regulate emotions.
- Assisting with personalised learning plans and behaviour intervention strategies.
- Helping create a safe, structured, and engaging learning environment.
- Building strong, consistent relationships that promote trust, confidence, and resilience.
What We’re Looking for in an SEMH Teaching Assistant (SEMH TA):
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, challenging behaviour, or similar needs.
- A calm, patient, and emotionally resilient approach.
- Strong understanding of behaviour support strategies and safeguarding practices (preferred).
- Ability to build positive relationships and act as a role model.
- Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 TA, Psychology, or childcare) are beneficial but not essential.
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
