Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA)
Location: Middlesbrough
Salary: £95 – £115 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long Term, Full-time / Part-time

GSL Education are currently recruiting enthusiastic and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistants (SEN TA) to work in schools across Middlesbrough.

This rewarding role involves supporting students with a range of special educational needs within the classroom and through targeted interventions. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and SEN staff to provide tailored support, helping students access learning, build confidence, and develop both academically and socially.

Responsibilities of an SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA):

  • Support students with special educational needs during lessons and school activities
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support where required
  • Assist students in accessing learning and completing classroom tasks
  • Encourage positive behaviour, engagement, and independence
  • Support students’ emotional, social, and academic development
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and support staff
  • Help maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
  • Assist with implementing individual support plans and interventions

Requirements to be an SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN is desirable
  • Calm, patient, and supportive approach
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
  • Genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
  • Relevant education, childcare, or support work experience is beneficial
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
