Job Title: Caretaker
Location: Northumberland
Salary: £13 – £17 per hour (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long Term, Full-time / Part-time

GSL Education are currently recruiting reliable and hardworking Caretakers to work in schools across Northumberland.
This rewarding role involves supporting the day-to-day maintenance and smooth running of school premises. The successful candidate will play an important role in ensuring the school environment remains safe, secure, clean, and well-maintained for students, staff, and visitors.
Responsibilities of a Caretaker:
- Carry out general maintenance and minor repair work across the school site
- Ensure the premises are clean, safe, and secure at all times
- Open and lock school buildings when required
- Conduct regular health and safety and site inspections
- Support with setting up rooms and facilities for lessons and events
- Monitor and report maintenance issues promptly
- Manage site equipment and maintenance supplies where necessary
- Work collaboratively with school staff and external contractors
Caretaker Requirements:
- Previous experience in a caretaker, maintenance, or site assistant role is desirable
- Good practical maintenance and DIY skills
- Understanding of health and safety procedures
- Reliable, organised, and proactive attitude
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
