Job Title: Caretaker
Location: Newcastle
Salary: £13 – £17 per hour (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long Term, Full-time / Part-time

GSL Education are currently seeking dedicated and proactive Caretakers to work in schools across Newcastle.
This rewarding role involves ensuring the smooth day-to-day maintenance and operation of school premises. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors.
Responsibilities of a Caretaker:
- Carry out general maintenance and basic repairs across the school site
- Ensure the school premises are clean, safe, and secure at all times
- Open and lock school buildings when required
- Conduct regular health and safety checks
- Support with setting up rooms and facilities for school activities and events
- Monitor and report any maintenance or site issues
- Manage cleaning supplies and site equipment where necessary
- Work collaboratively with school staff and external contractors
Requirements of a Caretaker:
- Previous experience in a caretaker, site assistant, or maintenance role is desirable
- Basic knowledge of health and safety procedures
- Good practical and DIY skills
- Reliable, organised, and proactive approach
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
