Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant
Location: Scarborough, North Yorkshire
Contract: Full Time, Term Time Only
Start Date: June 2026
Salary: £92 – £115 per day

GSL Education are currently recruiting for a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to support students at a specialist educational setting in Scarborough.
As a Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Teaching Assistant (SEND TA), you will work closely with teaching staff and the wider support team to provide tailored assistance, ensuring pupils receive the guidance they need to engage positively in their education.
About the Setting:
The academy is a specialist provision in Scarborough that supports children and young people with a range of additional needs. It provides a structured and nurturing environment where staff work collaboratively to ensure each pupil receives personalised support to help them achieve both academically and personally.
Main Responsibilities as a SEND Teaching Assistant:
- Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with SEND.
- Support pupils in accessing learning activities and adapting tasks to their needs.
- Assist in promoting positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff to implement individual learning plans.
- Encourage independence, confidence, and active participation in lessons.
- Contribute to a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.
Requirements of SEND TA:
- Previous experience working with children or young people with SEND.
- A patient, calm, and empathetic approach.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to adapt support to meet individual learning needs.
- A strong commitment to safeguarding and child protection.
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
