Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Scarborough, North Yorkshire
Contract: Full Time, Term Time Only
Start Date: June 2026
Salary: £92 – £115 per day

GSL Education are currently hiring a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to work within a specialist school in Scarborough, supporting children and young people with a range of complex learning, communication, and social, emotional needs.
As a Special Education Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA), you will work closely with teaching staff and wider support teams to provide tailored, consistent support that promotes independence, confidence, and positive engagement in learning.

This specialist educational setting provides a structured and nurturing environment for children aged 2 to 16 years old with a range of additional learning, social, emotional, and behavioural needs.
Key Responsibilities as a Special Needs Teaching Assistant:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with special educational needs.
- Assist in delivering differentiated learning activities suited to individual needs.
- Support pupils with communication, emotional regulation, and social development.
- Implement individual support plans and behaviour strategies consistently.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and pastoral staff.
SEN Teaching Assistant Requirements:
- Experience working with children or young people in SEN, education, care, or youth support settings.
- Understanding of additional needs such as autism, SEMH, or complex learning difficulties.
- Calm, patient, and resilient approach.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply.
