Salary: £92 – £115 per day

GSL Education are currently looking for a compassionate and proactive Behaviour Support Assistant to support students at a specialist educational setting in York.
As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams to help create a structured, nurturing, and supportive learning environment where students can develop confidence, resilience, and positive behaviour strategies.

The school offers a highly supportive and structured environment where staff work collaboratively to provide consistent, tailored academic and pastoral support, ensuring all pupils are encouraged to succeed socially, emotionally, and academically.
Main Responsibilities as a Behaviour Support Assistant:
- Provide targeted support to students with behavioural, social, and emotional needs.
- Support pupils in managing emotions and maintaining positive behaviour throughout the school day.
- Assist in delivering strategies designed to improve engagement and learning outcomes.
- Work on a one-to-one and small group basis to build trust and encourage participation.
- Support teaching staff in maintaining a calm and structured classroom environment.
- Help promote a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning setting for all students.
Requirements of Behaviour Support Assistant:
- Previous experience working with children or young people with behavioural or additional needs is highly desirable.
- A calm, patient, and resilient approach when managing challenging situations.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a wider support team.
- A strong commitment to safeguarding and child protection.
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for a new one).
