Support Learners in Northumberland as an SEN Teaching Assistant – Make a Real Difference

Location: Northumberland
Salary: £95 - £115 per day (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long-term | Part-time / Full-time

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to join a welcoming and inclusive school in Northumberland. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs to thrive both academically and personally.

About the Role:

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to support pupils with a variety of additional needs. You will play a key role in creating a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment where every child can reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities of SEN Teaching Assistant (TA):

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEN
  • Assist in delivering tailored lessons and targeted interventions
  • Foster an inclusive, nurturing classroom environment
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and support staff
  • Monitor and record pupil progress, behaviour, and wellbeing
  • Support pupils with EHCPs, ensuring individual needs are met

Requirements for SEN Teaching Assistant (TA):

  • Experience working with children or young people with Special Educational Needs
  • Understanding of differentiated learning strategies
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships
  • Patience, empathy, resilience, and a passion for supporting vulnerable learners
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
