Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Sheffield
Salary: £460 – £600 per week
Contract Type: Full-time, long-term / Day-to-day
Start Date: Immediately

A range of inclusive and supportive schools in Sheffield are seeking committed SEMH Teaching Assistants to work with pupils who need help managing social, emotional and mental health needs while engaging in their learning.

About the Role:
As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs, both in and out of the classroom. You will work closely with teaching staff to help manage behaviour, build positive relationships and support engagement in learning, using a calm and consistent approach throughout the school day.
Responsibilities:

Support pupils with SEMH needs in classroom and small group settings

Help implement behaviour support strategies consistently

Build positive, trusting relationships with students

Support engagement in learning activities and classroom routines

Assist teachers in maintaining a safe and structured environment

De-escalate situations calmly and professionally when required

Provide feedback to staff on pupil progress and behaviour
Requirements:

Experience working with children or young people is desirable

Understanding of SEMH needs or willingness to learn

Strong communication and relationship-building skills

Calm, patient and resilient approach

Ability to work as part of a supportive team

Commitment to supporting vulnerable learners
