Job Title: Cover Supervisor
Location: Sheffield
Salary: £460 – £650 per week
Contract Type: Full-time, long-term / Day-to-day
Start Date: Immediately

Are you confident in managing groups of young people and keeping learning on track in the absence of the class teacher? A range of supportive secondary schools in Sheffield are seeking reliable Cover Supervisors to provide consistent classroom supervision and ensure lessons run smoothly.

Staff work together to ensure pupils remain engaged, respectful and focused, even when regular teaching staff are unavailable. There is a strong emphasis on structure, communication and maintaining high standards across all classrooms.

About the Role:
As a Cover Supervisor, you will supervise classes during teacher absence, ensuring students remain on task with pre-set work. You will not be required to plan lessons but will be responsible for maintaining classroom behaviour, supporting engagement and ensuring a calm and productive learning environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise whole classes during teacher absence

  • Ensure students complete pre-set work

  • Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies

  • Maintain a calm, structured and safe learning environment

  • Support student focus and engagement throughout lessons

  • Report any concerns to relevant staff

  • Follow school procedures and routines consistently

Requirements:

  • Experience working with young people is desirable

  • Strong classroom management and communication skills

  • Confident, calm and professional approach

  • Ability to adapt to different school environments

  • Reliable and consistent availability

  • A proactive attitude and willingness to support learning
