Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Redcar and Cleveland (Willing to travel to Scarborough)
Salary: £92 – £115 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long Term, Full-time / Part-time

GSL Education are currently recruiting dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistants to work in schools across Redcar and Cleveland, with willingness to travel to Scarborough.

This rewarding role involves supporting students with a range of special educational needs within the classroom and school environment. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and SEN staff to provide tailored support, helping students engage in learning, build confidence, and develop socially and emotionally.

Responsibilities of an SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA):

  • Support students with special educational needs during lessons and school activities
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support where required
  • Assist students with classroom tasks, learning activities, and daily routines
  • Encourage positive behaviour, engagement, and independence
  • Support students’ emotional, social, and academic development
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and support staff
  • Help create a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment
  • Assist with implementing personalised support and behaviour plans

Requirements of an SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN is desirable
  • Patient, caring, and supportive approach
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
  • Willingness to travel to Scarborough when required
  • Genuine passion for supporting students with additional needs
  • Relevant education, care, or support work experience is beneficial
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
