Job Title: Behaviour Teaching Assistant
Location: Enfield
Pay Rate: £95-£110 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Long-term, Full-time
Working Hours: 8.15 AM -3.45 PM

Support pupils with social, emotional, and behavioural needs to help them access learning and thrive within a structured school environment!

GSL Education are seeking a committed Behaviour Teaching Assistant to work in schools across Enfield, supporting children with complex SEMH needs on a long-term basis.

In this role, you will work closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams to provide consistent 1:1 and small group support, helping pupils regulate their emotions, engage positively in lessons, and build confidence in their learning journey.

About the role

As a Behaviour Teaching Assistant (TA), you will play a key role in supporting pupils who present with high levels of social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs. You will use calm, consistent, and structured approaches to help pupils remain engaged in education and develop positive behaviour strategies.

Key responsibilities of Behaviour Teaching Assistant:

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support for pupils with SEMH and additional needs
  • Support the implementation of behaviour and learning support plans
  • Help pupils manage emotions and develop self-regulation strategies
  • Encourage positive engagement with learning and school routines
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral staff
  • Contribute to a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment

What we are looking for:

  • A minimum of 1 year’s experience supporting children or young people with SEMH needs in a school setting
  • Recent experience working within a primary or secondary school environment
  • Proven ability to provide effective 1:1 support for pupils with SEN
  • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach to challenging situations
  • Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive education practices
