Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – Primary School | Harlow
Are you a confident and experienced Teaching Assistant ready to take the next step in your career?
A friendly and supportive primary school in Harlow is looking for a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their team on a full-time basis. This is a varied and rewarding role where you will cover classes across EYFS through to KS2, supporting pupils and staff across the school.

About the Role
As a HLTA, you will play an important role within the school, supporting teaching and learning across different year groups. You will deliver pre-planned lessons during teacher release time or absence, support pupils in small groups, and help maintain a positive and engaging learning environment throughout the school.
The school is looking for someone who can quickly build positive relationships with pupils, adapt confidently across year groups, and bring energy and enthusiasm into the classroom.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Covering classes across EYFS, KS1, and KS2
- Delivering engaging pre-planned lessons and activities
- Supporting pupils’ learning, confidence, and classroom engagement
- Managing classroom behaviour effectively
- Providing small group and intervention support where needed
- Working closely with teachers and senior leaders across the school
- Helping to create a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
What We’re Looking For
- Experience working within a primary school setting
- Confident covering classes across different age groups
- Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
- A positive, adaptable, and proactive approach
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- HLTA qualification is desirable but not essential for experienced candidates
- A genuine passion for supporting children’s learning and development
