Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant
Location: Sheffield (S5)
Pay rate: £85-£110 per day (Depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

Are you a dedicated and experienced SEND Teaching Assistant who is passionate about supporting children with additional needs to thrive in education?

A supportive primary setting in Sheffield (S5) and GSL Education are looking for a committed Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Teaching Assistant (SEND TA) to provide 1:1 support for pupils requiring additional behavioural and learning support.

This is a rewarding role within a nurturing environment where you will play a key part in helping pupils with SEMH and ASD needs access learning, build confidence, and develop positive relationships within school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide consistent 1:1 support for pupils with SEND needs.
  • Support learning activities tailored to individual education plans.
  • Assist with emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to encourage engagement.
  • Work closely with class teachers, SENCO, and pastoral teams.

Requirements of SEND TA:

  • Previous experience working as a SEND TA or similar role.
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEMH and/or ASD is highly desirable.
  • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills.
  • Patient, empathetic, and resilient approach.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for a new one.
