Job Title: SEMH Teacher
Location: Rotherham
Salary: Up to £200 per day
Contract Type: Full-time / Part-time, Flexible / Day-to-day / Long-term
Start Date: Immediately

A number of supportive educational settings in Rotherham are seeking a resilient and dedicated SEMH Teacher to support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs across Key Stages 3 and 4. This is a rewarding opportunity for a teacher who is confident working in challenging environments and passionate about helping young people re-engage with learning.

Staff work closely together to create safe learning spaces where pupils with SEMH needs are supported to regulate behaviour, rebuild confidence and access learning in a positive way. About the Role:
As an SEMH Teacher, you will deliver tailored and accessible lessons that meet the individual needs of pupils who may struggle in mainstream education. You will focus on engagement, emotional regulation and progress, adapting your teaching style to support learners with a range of behavioural and emotional needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons for pupils with SEMH needs

  • Manage behaviour in line with individual support plans and school policies

  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils to support engagement

  • Adapt teaching approaches to meet a range of emotional and learning needs

  • Support pupils in developing coping strategies and resilience

  • Work collaboratively with support staff and pastoral teams

  • Maintain a safe, structured and supportive learning environment

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent (desirable)

  • Experience working with SEMH or within alternative provision settings

  • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills

  • Calm, patient and resilient approach

  • Ability to adapt lessons to meet complex needs

  • Genuine commitment to supporting vulnerable learners
