Job Title: Sports Coach / Learning Support
Location: Sheffield
Salary: £460 – £650 per week
Contract Type: Full-time / Part-time, Long-term / Day-to-day
Start Date: Immediately
GSL Education is looking for energetic and motivated individuals with a sports, coaching, or fitness background to work in school-based support roles across Sheffield. These positions are within secondary education settings where you will support learning, assist in classrooms, supervise lessons, and help maintain positive behaviour and engagement throughout the school day.
This is an excellent opportunity for individuals transitioning from sport or fitness into education, using their coaching experience in a structured school environment. Please note, this is not a sports coaching delivery role, and the focus is on classroom and learning support rather than PE or athletic activity.
About the Role:
This role is centred around school-based support rather than sports delivery. You will work alongside teaching staff to support learning, supervise classes, and help students stay focused and engaged. Your sporting background will be valuable in applying transferable skills such as communication, structure, behaviour management and motivation within the classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities:

Support teachers in delivering lessons and classroom activities

Supervise students across lessons as a learning support or cover capacity

Use sports background as a tool for engagement and behaviour support, not sport delivery

Help maintain focus, structure and positive behaviour in lessons

Support pupils with staying on task and following instructions

Contribute to a safe, consistent and productive learning environment
Requirements:

Background in sports coaching, fitness, youth work or similar roles

Confident working with groups of young people in a school setting

Strong communication and behaviour management skills

Professional, reliable and adaptable approach

Genuine interest in supporting education and pupil development
