Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Dinnington
Salary: £460 – £600 per week
Contract Type: Full-time, long-term / Day-to-day
Start Date: Immediately

Are you passionate about supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and helping them thrive in a structured school environment? A supportive and nurturing school in Dinnington is seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their team.

About the Role:
As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff to support pupils with a range of social, emotional and behavioural needs. You will help students regulate emotions, re-engage with learning, and develop positive coping strategies while supporting them both in and out of the classroom.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the class teacher in delivering lessons and structured activities

  • Work closely with pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis

  • Assist in managing challenging behaviour in a calm and consistent manner

  • Support pupils in developing emotional regulation and engagement in learning

  • Help create a safe, structured and positive learning environment

  • Provide feedback to teaching staff regarding pupil progress and wellbeing

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people, ideally with SEMH needs

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills

  • A calm, patient and resilient approach

  • Ability to de-escalate situations and support positive behaviour

  • A genuine commitment to supporting vulnerable learners
