Job Title: SEN Support Assistant
Location: Gateshead
Salary: £95 – £115 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long Term, Full-time / Part-time

GSL Education are currently seeking caring and enthusiastic SEN Support Assistants to work in schools across Gateshead.
This rewarding role involves supporting students with a range of special educational needs, helping them access learning and develop confidence within a safe and inclusive educational environment. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and support staff to provide tailored support both inside and outside the classroom.
SEN Support Assistant Responsibilities:
- Support students with special educational needs within the classroom
- Provide one-to-one and small group support when required
- Assist students with classroom tasks, activities, and daily routines
- Encourage positive behaviour, engagement, and independence
- Support students’ emotional, social, and academic development
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and support staff
- Help create a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment
- Assist with implementing personalised support and behaviour plans
Requirements of an SEN Support Assistant:
- Experience working with children or young people with SEN is desirable
- Calm, patient, and supportive approach
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
- Genuine passion for supporting students with additional needs
- Relevant education, care, or support work experience is beneficial
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
