Job Title: SEN Support Assistant
Location: Newcastle
Salary: £95 – £115 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long Term, Full-time / Part-time

GSL Education are currently recruiting caring and motivated SEN Support Assistants to work in schools across Newcastle.
This rewarding role involves supporting students with a range of special educational needs both inside and outside the classroom. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and SEN staff to provide tailored support, helping students engage in learning, build confidence, and achieve their full potential within a supportive school environment.
Main Responsibilities of an SEN Support Assistant:
- Support students with special educational needs during lessons and school activities
- Provide one-to-one and small group support where required
- Assist students with classroom tasks, learning activities, and daily routines
- Encourage positive behaviour, confidence, and independence
- Support students’ social, emotional, and academic development
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and support staff
- Help create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
- Assist with implementing individual support and behaviour plans
What we need from an SEN Support Assistant:
- Experience working with children or young people with SEN is desirable
- Patient, caring, and supportive approach
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
- Genuine passion for supporting students with additional needs
- Relevant education, care, or support work experience is beneficial
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
