Job Title: Behaviour Support Assistant
Location: Sunderland
Salary: £95 – £115 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long Term, Full-time / Part-time

GSL Education are currently seeking dedicated and proactive Behaviour Support Assistants to work in schools across Sunderland.
This rewarding role involves supporting students who may display challenging behaviour or require additional emotional and behavioural support within the classroom. The successful candidate will play a key role in promoting positive behaviour, improving student engagement, and helping pupils thrive in a supportive learning environment.
Responsibilities of a Behaviour Support Assistant:
- Support students with behavioural, emotional, and social needs
- Promote positive behaviour and encourage engagement in learning
- Provide one-to-one and small group support where required
- Assist teachers in managing classroom behaviour effectively
- Build positive and trusting relationships with students
- Help students develop confidence, communication, and emotional regulation skills
- Support the implementation of behaviour management strategies
- Maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
Requirements of a Behaviour Support Assistant:
- Experience working with children or young people with behavioural needs is desirable
- Strong behaviour management and communication skills
- Calm, patient, and resilient approach
- Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
- A genuine passion for supporting young people
- Relevant qualifications or support work experience are beneficial
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
